Top Cornish Caves to Explore

These are some of my favourite caves to explore around Cornwall on my paddleboard…..

  1. Cathedral Cave: Located near Tintagel, this cave is famous for its impressive cathedral-like chamber. It is accessible during low tide and can be explored by visitors. The cave is surrounded by stunning cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

  2. Porthcurno Cave: Situated near Porthcurno beach, this cave is known for its picturesque beauty. It features towering cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise waters, creating a magical atmosphere. Visitors can access the cave during low tide and explore its rocky formations.

  3. Logan Rock: While not exactly a cave, Logan Rock is a fascinating geological formation located near Porthcurno. It consists of a large granite boulder balanced precariously on the cliff's edge. In the past, visitors could rock the stone with enough force, but due to conservation efforts, it has been secured to prevent further rocking.

  4. Pixies' Cave: Found near St. Agnes, this cave is associated with local folklore and legends. It is believed to be the dwelling place of the mythical Cornish creatures known as pixies. The cave is accessible during low tide, and its intriguing atmosphere adds to the mystique of the surrounding landscape.

  5. Maenporth/Swanpool - although they’re smaller caves at Maenporth and Swanpool and lesser-known rock formations it is so beautiful to explore during low tide.
